On July 10, the Board of County Commissioners of Hamilton County, Ohio decided to review the policy for addressing voluntary requests for sewer assessments, or "local sewers." The Commissioners are planning to meet with MSD on Monday, August 19, 2013, to discuss the policy. This meeting will be televised to the public.
In order to provide the Commissioners with time to conduct policy review, MSD will suspend activity on some voluntary assessment or "petition" projects effective July 22, 2013. MSD has issued letters to affected property owners on July 19, 2013. This suspension of activity will occur when both of the following conditions apply to a sewer petition project:
There are approximately 432 properties that are affected by this project activity suspension.
One purpose of the local sewer projects is to eliminate household sewage treatment systems (HSTS), some of which may have operational issues. Local health districts, like the Hamilton County Public Health among others, are responsible for permitting and inspecting HSTS.
MSD is also contacting petitioners who are circulating petitions at this time to ask them to suspend their efforts to obtain signatures for their petitions. Petitions being circulated involve an additional 453 properties.
If you have questions or concerns about this project please contact MSD's Engineering Customer Service at (513) 557-3594 or via email at MSD.Communications@cincinnati-oh.gov.
